420TV Roku App

Targeting both the converted and the curious, 420TV app captures and delivers content relevant to all aspects of the rapidly evolving cannabis lifestyle, as it moves from counterculture to mainstream.

My Role

I lead the UI design of the Roku app, coordinating with two remote teams for product direction and app development.

Challenge

The Roku app was part of the portfolio of products developed for the 420TV platform.

The challenges when designing for a 10ft experience were more than how the viewer was positioned compared to the TV screen or how he interacted with his remote control, they were coming from the platform limitation of its devices.

The app was designed to support older model as well, that couldn't handle transparent overlays (round pictures were a first for the Roku platform), shadows and other artefacts, ensuring a good experience no matter the device.

Features

  • Encourage more TV viewing with option to auto-play next episode
  • Audience-focused editorial categories
  • Parental control enhanced security
  • Easy Sign-In with mobile app

Final User Interface

The work I have done received appraisals from Roku's team of developers for its innovative design for this platform.
